Ariel Atom 3.5 Gets Stiffer Chassis, Better Track Balance

Ariel just announced the updated version of its already-insane sports car with lessons learned from its V8 and Mugen editions to further improve performance, calling it the Atom 3.5.

Those improvements include an updated, stiffer chassis with more torsional rigidity along with new engine mounts and dampers to improve balance on the track and improve its on-road ride. It also gets a new LCD dashboard display with gearshift lights.

Hardly a car you want to use every day, though, or really at all outside the track, the Atom is one of the world’s least practical cars. Regardless, Ariel is offering new levels of customization to buyers by allowing each to tailor the car to individual preference.

It’s naturally aspirated 2.0-liter Honda engine still makes 245 hp while the supercharged version increases by 10 hp to 310. That power increase comes courtesy of an improved air intake, new mapping and a new fuel system.
