Volkswagen Beetle R-Line to Reach US Next Year

Volkswagen will offer Beetle buyers an R-Line package starting next year to help the car look sportier.

Details on the U.S.-spec car aren’t available yet, but the European version comes with special 18-inch wheels, a spoiler and a new front and rear fascia to make the car look more aggressive.

Style tweaks continue in the cabin with a Volkswagen three-spoke steering wheel, two-tone seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, aluminum door sills and a bespoke dashboard.

There aren’t any real performance upgrades to speak of, but the current-generation car takes big strides away from its predecessor’s cutesy image. VW will offer the package to U.S. buyers, but only in the coupe for now.
