Ford F-650, F-750 Get up to 725 lb-ft of Torque

Ford’s latest lineup of medium-duty commercial trucks all use the same diesel engine, but the company has announced that the powerplant will be available in three different versions.

At the base level, the F-650 and F-750 will get a best-in-class 675 lb-ft of torque and 270 hp out of the 6.7-liter diesel, routed through a six-speed automatic transmission. Moving up, the middle of the road option boosts the engine to 700 lb-ft of torque and 300 hp, while the most powerful version of this engine makes 725 lb-ft of torque and 330 hp.

“While other medium-duty truck manufacturers restrict top horsepower and torque ratings to certain applications, such as emergency services, the all-new F-650/F-750 will arrive with no vocational restrictions,” said John Ruppert, general manager  of Ford Commercial Vehicle Sales and Marketing.

There is also a 6.8-liter V10 gasoline engine available that makes 330 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. This engine can be factory-prepped to run on compressed natural gas or liquid propane gas as a cost-effective alternative to gasoline.

Not only are the power numbers new, but every truck and van in the Ford Commercial Truck lineup will be all-new or significantly refreshed in the next 18 months, including the exterior style and interior.
