Mercedes GL-Class Least Likely to be Recovered From Theft
If you own a Mercedes-Benz SUV, chances slim that you will see it again if it is stolen.
According to a recent report from the National Insurance Crime Bureau, 37 percent of stolen Mercedes-Benz GL-Class SUVs (323 thefts, 119 unrecovered) are never recovered while 36 percent of Land Rover models (390 thefts, 140 unrecovered) remain unrecovered.
The report covered thefts of 2011-2013 model year vehicles in the 48 months ended December 31, 2013, with a total of 21,711 SUVs and crossovers stolen during the period.

The top five stolen vehicles were: Ford Escape (1,421), Ford Edge (1,140), Ford Explorer (958), Jeep Grand Cherokee (912) and Kia Sorento (725). Most popular states for SUV and crossover thefts were: California (3,531), Florida (1,897), Michigan (1,834), Texas (1,686) and New York (1,577).
