VW Golf SportWagen 4Motion, Alltrack Coming to US in 2016
Volkswagen plans to offer new all-wheel drive vehicles in the U.S.
Volkswagen Group of America CEO Michael Horn said the Golf SportWagen with 4Motion all-wheel drive and its higher-riding Alltrack sibling will both be offered in the U.S. in 2016. “That’s what our dealers, our customers, are asking us for,” Horn said. “This will come in 2016.”

The Alltrack will take the fight directly to Subaru’s VX Crosstrek, with Volkswagen trying to capitalize on the growing small all-wheel drive crossover segment in the States. Customers who opt for the Alltrack will get an additional 20 mm of ground clearance and an off-road mode complete with hill descent control.
The front-wheel drive Golf SportWagen will launch in March or April of 2015, while the all-wheel drive variants will begin showing up in early 2016. They will all be produced at Volkswagen’s new plant in Puebla, Mexico.
