Hyundai Enduro Concept Has the Soul of a Motorcycle

1

Hyundai is drawing inspiration from an unlikely source for its latest concept.

The Hyundai Enduro concept made its debut at the 2015 Seoul Motor Show and according to the Korean automaker it “visually combines SUV look with rally motorcycle which compete in the world’s toughest rally events.” Billed as an urban lifestyle crossover concept, the Enduro features a new interpretation of the company’s design signature hexagonal front grille, now sporting a lower center of gravity to create a sense of stability. Like other crossovers on the market, the Enduro has greater ground clearance and SUV-style fender cladding while a dark grey garnish covers the lower parts of the car.

Enhancing aerodynamics according to Hyundai are airblades found on the C-pillars while the side steps incorporate step bars for easier loading and unloading of the roof rack. Inside, the cabin of the concept appears to wrap around the driver’s seat in a manner that creates a dynamic atmosphere. The unique steering wheel design features the spoke and handle molding of a road bike while the door handles have a lightweight cowl image of an off-road bike.

Although it’s purely a concept, the Enduro is powered by the automaker’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
