Chevy Introduces Cool Smartphone Feature

Chevy has introduced a cool new feature for your smartphone.

Active phone cooling is being introduced in a number of Chevrolet models to keep smartphones from overheating while using wireless charging. Chevy engineers noticed that some phones would suspend charging or even shut off all together during extreme heat tests.

The solution is simple: a cold-air vent has been added to the small bin in the center stack where phones sit during wireless charging. Wireless charging itself can cause the temperature of the phone to rise, along with high demand on the phone’s data or image processor.

Phone cooling will be available on 2016 Impala, Malibu, Cruze and Volt models equipped with wireless charging.
