2016 Lexus IS Details Unveiled, Turbo Makes 241 HP
Lexus has revealed all the details on the 2016 IS that will be coming to the U.S.
The car will now have three powertrain options, the newest of which is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 241 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, hooked up to an eight-speed automatic transmission which sends power exclusively to the rear wheels. This powertrain replaces the old 2.5-liter V6, marking the discontinuation of the Lexus IS 250 in favor of the new IS 200t.
If you’re after all-wheel drive, Lexus has the IS 300, which is available exclusively with power going to all four wheels. It uses a 3.5-liter V6 to send 255 hp and 236 lb-ft torque to the wheels through a six-speed automatic tranmission.
At the top of the pack is the IS 350, available with either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. It also uses a 3.5-liter V6, though in this car it makes 306 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. This car also now gets standard 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels.

The IS packs plenty of high-tech luxury car options, including selectable drive modes, a display audio system complete with a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Siri eyes free, dual-zone climate control, remote touch interface and a premium sound system with 835-watts. New for 2016, a heated steering wheel is available as a standalone options, while the Premium Plus package adds a power tilt/telescopic steering wheel and rain-sensing wipers.
All models can be had with the F Sport package, which brings along 18-inch wheels, special suspension tuning and unique looks thanks to new interior and exterior trim. On V6-equipped models, the exhaust note is also made more aggressive.
Safety is delivered thanks to numerous systems, including a pre-emptive pre-collision setup, which incorporates radar-based cruise control, blind spot monitoring with cross traffic alert and an auto-location tire pressure warning system.
