Mercedes-Benz Caught Testing a Savage-Looking Armored G-Class

Mercedes-Benz has been spied testing an armored G-Class.

It appears that the Light Armored Patrol Vehicle (LAPV) is based on the Mercedes-Benz G500 4x4x2, which uses portal axles to further enhance the SUV’s off-road capabilities. This particular creation is in collaboration with Magna Steyr, an Austrian company that has been producing the G-Class for Mercedes-Benz since 1979. The company’s military expertise is being put to good use on this military project that features an angled front bumper, a winch and a snorkel for deep river bed crossing.

Based on its name, it will likely be used for reconnaissance, but since it’s a military project, details are light.

Spy photographers caught the Mercedes-Benz G-Class LAPV testing in harsh winter conditions and its armor plating and massive suspension makes it look like it’s ready to take on anything.
