Joey from ‘Friends’ Joins Top Gear

American actor Matt LeBlanc of Friends fame will be joining the new series of Top Gear as a presenter.

The news comes along with a photo of LeBlanc standing with Top Gear’s other new confirmed host Chris Evans and the Stig. “As a car nut and a massive fan of Top Gear, I’m honoured and excited to be a part of this iconic show’s new chapter,” said Matt. “What a thrill!”

LeBlanc has appeared on Top Gear before a number of times and even holds the record for the fastest-ever lap time during the ‘star in a reasonably priced car’ segment at 1:42.

He reappeared on the show after that to drive the Stig around in a McLaren MP4-12C and he recently hosted a special series called Top Gear: The Races, which focused on the best races that have taken place on the show over the last 21 seasons.

“Matt’s a lifelong fellow petrolhead and I’m thrilled he’s joining Top Gear,” said Chris Evans. “Acting out our craziest car notions on screen is a dream job and I know we’ll both be debating some epic road trip ideas.”

It was originally believed that German race car driver Sabine Schmitz would also be acting as a co-host on the show, but this announcement didn’t include any information on that. The BBC says there will be more announcements soon about the show’s presenters. British car reviewer Chris Harris is also rumored to be a presenter on the new Top gear.
