The Maserati Levante SUV is Here and it’s Beautiful
Following an earlier leak, Maserati has released official photos previewing its upcoming Levante SUV.
Set to debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show in early March, Maserati has revealed the exterior of its first-ever SUV in the brand’s more than one-hundred-year history. Boasting an aggressive front end, tapered headlights and the Italian automaker’s three iconic air vents on the front wings, the Levante will help complete Maserati’s range of offerings. Currently the company sells the Quattroporte, Ghibli, GranTurismo and GranCabrio models.

According to Maserati, the SUV’s chassis “is designed to combine the outstanding on-road performance typical of every Maserati with unrivalled handling even on very low-grip surfaces and an excellent off-road performance and ride.” Like the Bentley Bentayga, it’s highly unlikely Levante owners will be going off-roading with their luxury SUV, but at least it’s capable.
Although the Italian automaker is keeping details close to its heart for the SUV’s debut in a couple of weeks, it did share that the Levante will feature “Q4” intelligent all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission that has been specifically calibrated for the model. Both gasoline and diesel engines will be offered, and we expect details to be announced when the car bows in Switzerland.
It will also be built at the Mirafiori plant in Turin and the first cars have already come off the assembly line. Initial launch is planned for this spring in Europe before heading to other markets worldwide later this year.
