Subaru BRZ STI Sport Concept Plays Games With Our Hearts
[Update: This post has been updated with live photos and more information]
Drivers have been asking for a Subaru BRZ STI since the little rear-drive sports coupe came into existence, but Subaru is toying with their emotions again.
Instead of giving enthusiasts what they want, the Japanese automaker has debuted a Subaru BRZ STI Sport Concept at the Tokyo Auto Salon. The concept has “STI-tuned driving performance” and unique trim inside and out. Details are scarce, but we can see red Brembo brake calipers, unique rims, and a slightly revised front design and body kit.

The more important performance upgrades focus on the suspension and people holding their breath for a turbocharger or more power will be disappointed, as engine output stays the same. The coupe concept also gets a freer-flowing performance muffler.

This concept would be kind of cool, except it’s a far less extreme version of the other BRZ STI concept (below) we’ve seen before that got us much more excited. There’s also already a Performance Package upgrade in the U.S. that gives the BRZ similar upgrades, so this concept ends up being quite lame.
