Porsche 911 GT3 Will Get its Manual Transmission Back

Fans can finally exhale as the 2017 Porsche 911 GT3 will offer a six-speed manual.

Although it won’t be made official until the new model bows at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, sources close to the factory say the 991-generation GT3 will also be available with a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. Power will still come from a 4.0-liter flat-six engine, but it’s not the same mill as the current GT3 RS and 911 R, but rather an evolution offering at least 500 horsepower.

Porsche is focusing on improving the durability of the engine rather than massive power gains. Last year, spy photographers caught the new 911 GT3 testing numerous times, and as you can tell, don’t expect to see a major departure in terms of styling.

The company is also still working on the upcoming 911 GT2 RS with the source telling Autocar it “should be ready by the end of the year.” Expect output of the new 911 GT2 RS to be around 650 hp.
