Alfa Romeo 4C GTA Confirmed for 2012 as An Affordable Halo Car
Alfa Romeo will introduce a new flagship performance car – but at a more affordable price. We say ‘more affordable’ because the previous top model from Alfa, the 8C, cost over 200,000 Euros. Called the 4C GTA, it’s expected to head into production in 2012 and arrive at dealers priced at a more reasonable 40,000 Euros ($55,000).
The car will follow after classic models like the Duetto Spider (which inspired the above concept car) and be based on a modified version of the KTM X-Bow chassis. Thanks to that light-weight frame, Alfa is looking to keep weight to just 1,784 lbs (a solid 200 lbs lighter than a Lotus Elise). Here we should point out that GTA, stands for Gran Turismo Alleggerita, which is Italian for Lightened Grand Touring.
