Volkswagen Passat Performance Concept Revealed Before 2013 Detroit Auto Show

Days before it hits the show floor in Detroit, Volkswagen has unveiled the Passat Performance Concept, packed with a turbocharged engine and some performance enhancing goodies. 

Injecting the Passat with some adrenaline is a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 250 hp and sends power through a six-speed automatic transmission.

To mate the power with performance, a lowered sport suspension has been added along with electro-mechanical steering to enhance the handling performance of the car.

For style, the Passat Performance concept gets dual exhaust, 19-inch alloy wheels, Bi-Xenon headlights with advanced front lighting system and LED tailights. The mirror caps get carbon applications, while inside, carbon-like inserts are found in the dashboard and on the two-tone seats, complemented by a black headliner and side pillars.

The Passat Performance Concept won’t be a concept for long with VW promising it will inspire a future “sports sedan”. As a result, the Passat line will gain a performance variant to keep it in line with the GTI and GLI versions of both the Golf and Jetta.
