Chevy Halting Volt Production for Six Weeks
Chevy will halt production of the Volt for six weeks this summer due to slow sales and to prepare for the new model.
GM currently has a 200-day supply of Volts, a glut of cars that the company wants to clear out before the new 2016 model arrives. Generally, a 60-day supply is considered healthy.
The production hiatus will begin right at the end of May according to Chevy and has been extended to six weeks to give the company some time to sell the existing cars. The first 2016 Volts to roll off the line will be shipped to California, likely around early September.

The new Volt features a fresh design and an-electric driving range of 50 miles. Overall range is pegged right around 400 miles.
