Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn Rejected Job As GM CEO Post-Bailout

A new book by former Obama administration auto czar Steve Rattner claims that Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn was offered the job of General Motors CEO, by turned it down.

Rather than be at the helm of GM, Ghosn wanted GM as part of his Renault-Nissan alliance but ultimately the plan didn’t come to fruition. Ghosn wasn’t willing to abandon the company he worked so hard to build. Rattner and the Obama administration were largely looking for some new blood as a means of purging GM’s old guard management, and also wanted someone willing to take advantage of the huge resources being thrown at the company.
