Audi R8 Owner Replaces Carbon Fiber Side Blades… for Wood

We’d like to believe the owner of this Audi R8 was just playing a joke when he/she came up with this idea. The R8’s carbon fiber side blades have always been a controversial part of the sports car’s styling, even with Audi offering a $1,000 option to match paint them. But this owner took matters into their own hand.

Armed with a sheet of MDF and a jigsaw, it appears that the owner fabricated a perfect fit piece to replace the factory side blades. Creative or just ridiculous? We’ll leave that up to you. But it probably would have been a little classier if they opted to use some nice Brazilian Cherry-stained bamboo.
