Chinese F-150 Ripoff Truck Kept From Production by Ford

Stealing doesn’t seem to bother Chinese automaker JAC. It makes cheap knockoff vehicles that look like blatant ripoffs of the legitimate cars, and because of an indifferent Chinese government, there hasn’t been much available recourse for the violated automakers.

In an almost Rambo-like fit of rage, Ford threatened JAC over its recent F-150 look-a-like. Ford Inside News reports that the automaker managed to freeze the company in its tracks, something no other company has managed to date. Apparently a slew of Chinese patents actually protects the brand’s products in China, meaning that the Chinese government’s standard refusal to recognize foreign patents won’t serve as a block-all shield after all.
