Jaguar F-Type R Caught on the Track in Spy Photos

It seems Jaguar is hard at work testing new track focused cars. This morning we received spy photos of the new XKR-S performance package, and now the British company is testing out the new F-Type R. 

The base F-Type will get its power from a 380-hp 3.0-liter supercharged V6, but the car in our pictures is no base F-Type. It is the F-Type R, and it will get its power from a 5.0-liter V8 that should produce around 550 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. The quad exhaust pipes will be featured on the R version only, as the base model will run with only two.

The F-Type is looking to compete against the likes of  the Porsche Boxster and BMW Z4, but with the R designations added power,  the F-Type R should give the Mercedes SLK55 AMG and the Aston Martin Vantage some solid competition.
