2014 Volkswagen Golf R Convertible Spy Photos
After the regular Golf R was seen undergoing testing yesterday, today Volkswagen rolled out the Golf R convertible, completely camo-free, offering us a full look at the new drop-top hot hatch.
Clearly displaying its heritage thanks to exterior ‘R’ badging, the new Golf R also sports LED daytime running lights, bigger brakes and wheels, beefier side sills and a spoiler on the top of the hatch. The dual exhaust uses new oval shape pipes, rather than the round ones found on the GTI.
Under the hood should be a 2.0-liter turbo four cylinder with something around 256 hp mated to either a DSG or a six-speed manual. Along with all other variants of Golf, the Golf R Convertible will use new MQB platform architecture, giving the car slightly larger dimensions as well make it cheaper to produce.
