2015 Mazda MX-5 to Get 1.3-Liter Turbo
Clearly there’s plenty of excitement surrounding the next-generation Mazda MX-5 model, to the point that the rumors are starting to become hard to keep track of.
One consistent rumors, however, is that the next-generation MX-5 Miata will be turbocharged, despite the curveball the Japanese automaker threw recently with its supercharged MX-5 Yusho Concept. Scheduled to go on sale in 2015, the new MX-5 will also offer more personalization options similar to what the Fiat 500 and MINI models offer their consumers.
We’ve already known that the new MX-5 will be much lighter than its predecessor, weighing as little as 2,200 lbs, but it appears that the automaker has decided on a 1.3-liter, turbocharged engine that will produce around 200-hp. If rumors are to be believed, a more track-oriented model could be offered that will be lighter and stripped of many of its amenities.
