CODA EV Recalled for Side Curtain Airbag Flaw
CODA, a newcomer to the automotive world, is issuing its first recall over concerns that certain side curtain airbags might not deploy because of improper installation.
The industry fledgling’s first foray into fixing flawed autos only includes 78 vehicles, although that accounts for a significantly larger proportion of the brand’s sales than would be the case for a mainstream brand. If you’ve never heard of CODA, you’re not alone. Still a startup, the company caiters to the EV niche, which is big in California but a tough sell in most places across North America.
Nonetheless, the company said it voluntarily disclosed the issue to NHTSA in an effort to keep its customers safe. Owners can call the NHTSA safety hotline at (888) 327-4236 or CODA directly at (855) 464-2632. A schedule for the repairs hasn’t been set yet, but the automaker will conduct the repairs at no additional cost to the owner.
