2014 Volkswagen Golf R to Boast 276-HP
Recent spy photos of the 2014 Volkswagen Golf R showed that the German automaker is hard to work on its performance-minded, seventh-generation Golf model.
It is believed that the new Golf R model will feature a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder under the hood packing 276-hp, offering 10-hp more than its outgoing predecessor. The powerplant is the same that will be seen in the upcoming Audi A3 model. The Golf R will feature an all-wheel drive system while transmission choices will include a standard six-speed manual, or an optional seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic.
The 2014 Volkswagen Golf R is expected to to join the German automaker’s seventh-generation Golf lineup before the end of next year.
