Mercedes B-Class Electric Drive Heading to America
At the 2012 Paris Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz unveiled its B-Class Electic Drive Concept, and now there’s confirmation that its production model will eventually make its way to America.
The B-Class Electic Drive will be the only B-Class model sold in America, and will also be the only electric vehicle from the German automaker to be offered in America, for now. So why the B-Class as Mercedes-Benz’s sole electric offering in the US? The automaker wanted to use a unique body style, offering an EV in a market that isn’t oversaturated with existing models.
In concept form, the B-Class Electric Drive offers up to almost 125 miles of range while being powered by an electric motor with 134-hp and 229 lb-ft of torque. It’s expected that the production model will feature the same specifications found in the concept that debuted in Paris.
