2014 Ford Fiesta Restyled, Gains Tiny 3-Cylinder Engine: 2012 LA Auto Show
Aiming to grow its position in the small car segment, Ford has revealed a refreshed version of its Fiesta sub-compact today at the LA Auto Show, boasting an efficient and surprisingly powerful 3-cylinder engine.
Using Ford’s turbocharging and direct-injection technology, the EcoBoost 1.0-liter 3-cylinder makes a healthy 123 hp and a substantial 148 lb-ft of torque. More obviously, the EcoBoost 1.0-liter is touted to get exceptional fuel economy with Ford claiming 40 mpg or better.
In addition to a new engine, the Fiesta gets an upgraded interior with an available MyFord Touch system with a large 6.5-inch display screen. Improved over earlier versions Ford claims this new system is easier to use, with simplified functions and a better voice recognition.
Ford says it’s committed to offering its best technology in its small cars, which considering adoption of tech by younger buyers, certainly makes sense.
