BMW 2 Series Convertible Spied Testing

Just spotted in spy photos, BMW’s new 2 Series convertible crossed paths with AutoGuide’s spy photographers.

BMW is migrating its coupe and convertible cars to a new naming structure that will see two nameplates born: the 2 and 4 Series. In both cases, the cars are migrated versions of the 1 and 3 Series coupes and convertibles, which will no longer share the same nameplate.

While there aren’t versions of the 1 Series offered in North America apart from the coupes and convertibles, there is a considerably larger range offered in the European market.

In the future, BMW plans to shift the 1 Series to share a platform with MINI while the 2 Series will become the rear-wheel drive car sold under the 1 Series nameplate today.
