Ferrari F12 Berlinetta Auctioned in US for Over $1M

Ferrari’s first U.S.-delivered F12 Berlinetta sold at auction over the weekend for $1.125 million.

Part of a greater push to raise money for charity, proceeds from the event as a whole are being donated to the Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy relief. Larry Roth, the F12’s new owner, paid almost four times the car’s $315,888 list price but skipped waiting for one in the process.

Even before the auction, Ferrari had already raised $345,000 in relief donations through dealer and client donations. During the auction, the brand also raised another $50,000 in donations on top of money raised by auctioning its cars. In total, the donations have reached $1.5 million.

Ferrari debuted the F12 Berlinetta, which is its most powerful road car to date, earlier this year during the Geneva Motor Show. It uses a 6.3-liter V12 engine and boasts 729 hp and 508 lb-ft of torque through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. It also claims a 211 mph top-speed and reaches 60 mph in 3.1 seconds.
