Toyota Predicts Record Sales for 2013

2012 hasn’t even come to an end yet, and Toyota is already predicting that it’ll have a record sales year in 2013.

This year, the Japanese automaker will reclaim its crown as world’s largest automaker, but is already expecting a 2-percent growth in sales for next year thanks to high demand in overseas markets. If Toyota’s expectations are fulfilled, the automaker will set a new record in annual sales.

In a statement from Toyota, the automaker is expecting 2013 global sales to hit 9.91 million vehicles after its sales grew 22 percent this year to a record 9.7 million. It was Toyota’s biggest gain since 2000.

Next year, Toyota expects its overseas sales to rise 8 percent to 7.87 million, though deliveries in Japan will decline to 2.04 million. The Japanese automaker is not relying on the Chinese market to be a strength as sales have plunged in recent months due to violent anti-Japan protests.
