First Chevrolet Corvette Stingray to be Auctioned for Charity

The first-ever Chevrolet Corvette Stingray will be auctioned off at the Barrett-Jackson auction on January 19 with its proceeds heading to charity.

The C7 Corvette, which debuted at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, is powered by the American automaker’s new 6.2-liter, V8 powerplant with 450 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque.

The proceeds from the first Corvette sold will benefit the College for Creative Studies and will have no reserve set. Chances are, it’ll fetch an impressive figure at the end of the day considering the first SRT Viper sold for $300,000 at a Barrett-Jackson auction in Orange County, California last year.

Pricing for the new Stingray is still unannounced, but it would be a big surprise if the Vette managed to reign in a higher price given that it will likely cost an awful lot less.
