The active rear spoiler helps the 3-Series GT obtain a drag coefficient of 0.29, an impressive figure that will undoubtedly aid the car in fuel consumption and wind noise. Once the 3-Series Gran Turismo hits 68 mph, the rear spoiler will automatically extend and helps reduce lift by adding 35-percent pressure on the rear axle. At its launch in Europe, buyers will be able to opt for a nice selection of powerplants including a pair of 2.0-liter diesel engines with one producing 140 hp, 236 lb-ft of torque and the other with 180 hp, 280 lb-ft of torque.
Three turbo-gasoline engines will also be available with a pair of 2.0-liter, four-cylinders leading the way with 180 hp and 199 lb-ft of torque or 241 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The top-of-the-line 3.0-liter, six-cylinder will make 301 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. The German automaker will add a 325d to the lineup later on in ths year that will have 217 hp, along with xDrive variants. Standard transmission on the 3-Series Gran Turismo is a six-speed manual, while an eight-speed automatic is available as an option.
