Jaguar F-Type R-S Coupe with 700 HP Planned
At this point, Jaguar adding the F-Type Coupe to its lineup is inevitable, but it appears that the British automaker is planning a sports car that will top the Porsche 911 Turbo S.
According to an inside source at Jaguar speaking to Auto Express, the automaker has “done an R-S version with over 700 bhp that will do over 200 mph – it’s going to be insane.”
It’s likely that the Jaguar F-Type Coupe R-S will borrow some of its engine technology from the now-cancelled C-X75 hybrid which packed 900 hp from a twin-charged 1.6-liter gasoline engine complemented by multiple electric motors. For a production R-S model, expect a smaller turbocharged engine with a hybrid powertrain to give it a boost in performance.
The Jaguar F-Type Coupe is expected to land next year, but the high-performance R-S variant won’t go into production until at least 2016.
