When the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel hits dealerships next year it will dominate the segment when it comes to fuel economy, with the brand estimating an incredible 27 MPG combined.
This news comes via Ram’s President and CEO Reid Bigland, and is just one of numerous announcements today in the pickup truck segment, with all major players making news at the Texas State Fair.

At a first drive press launch for the truck last week Ram was coy on fuel economy estimates but did say the truck would best the V6 model’s already best-in-class numbers of 18 MPG city, 25 MPG highway and 20 MPG combined.
During our test of the truck we registered 24 MPG in combined city and highway driving.
The 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel is powered by a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6 making 240 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. It is rated to tow a maximum of 9,200 lbs.
