2015 Volvo V60 Heading to America in January

The Volvo V60 will finally be on sale in North America as a 2015 model year starting in January 2014.

The North American Volvo V60 will also see the Swedish automaker’s new 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, though not initially. The new powerplant is actually part of Volvo’s new family of all-aluminum, direct-injected gasoline and diesel engines which are all 2.0-liter in displacement. The U.S. will initially get the standard gasoline engine, but Volvo will offer it in four different stages.

The most powerful variant will feature both a supercharger and a turbocharger to give the V60 302 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, and will also find its way into the S60 and XC60 models. The base V60 will see a single turbo on the 2.0-liter that will be good for 240 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.

All of the 2.0-liter engines will be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The automaker anticipates the base model to receive a 29-mpg combined EPA rating.

If those 2.0-liter engines sound enticing, you might want to hold off however. The V60 will launch with the automaker’s current lineup of five- and six-cylinder engines. The familiar 2.5-liter, inline-five sports 250 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque while the 3.0-liter, inline-six has 325 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque.
