2014 Honda CR-Z Gains HPD Supercharger to Make 200-HP
Last year at the 2012 SEMA Show, Honda’s racing arm, Honda Performance Development (HPD) showed off a supercharged Honda CR-Z concept. That concept will now become a reality.
Today at the 2013 SEMA Show Honda announced that the CR-Z will be getting plenty of goodies from HPD starting immediately. Unfortunately, the supercharger won’t be available until spring of 2014. But the other full range of accessories can be had at Honda dealerships today.
But the real exciting news is the announcement of the HPD-developed centrifugal supercharger that will add around 70 hp to the CR-Z, helping boost total system output to 200 hp. Coming along with the package will be an HPD air-to-air intercooler, high-flow fuel injectors, an ECU calibrated to meet CART AT-PZEV regulations with 91-octane fuel, an HPD air filter system and an HPD sport exhaust. Chassis improvements on the HPD Supercharged CR-Z include sport dampers, coil springs, larger disc brakes and HDP 18-inch wheels matched to Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The CR-Z is finished off with a graphics package including a front lip and tail spoilers, rear diffuser and HPD badging.
