2014 Jeep Wrangler Willys Wheeler Rolls into LA

Jeep doesn’t have much to say at the L.A. Auto Show this year. The SUV builder didn’t even bother with a press conference.

But there is at least one product sitting in its booth worth taking a second look at: the 2014 Wrangler Willys Wheeler. It’s a special edition for the 2014 model year meant as a tribute to the Willys off roaders that birthed the Jeep image of today.

As such, it is gets a limited slip differential along with 3.73 gears and off-road tires. A set of rock rails protects the undercarriage. It also gets a two-speed transfer case with a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio. As with the normal Wrangler, a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 provides 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Both a six-speed manual and a five-speed automatic are available with the special model.

It would probably already be a looker with the added off-road gear, but Jeep didn’t stop there. The body is finished in gloss black paint with Willy’s branding on the hood. There are also 17-inch aluminum wheels

Pricing starts at $25,795 for the two-door model while the four-door Unlimited version comes in at $29,595 with arrival planned early next year.
