2015 Subaru WRX to Get… a CVT
The 2015 Subaru WRX will no longer have a standard automatic transmission option, rather it will be a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Don’t fret WRX fans, a manual transmission is still available as an option, but the use of a CVT might be a downer for those that still consider the WRX a full-fledged sports sedan. The choice however, isn’t a surprising one considering the new WRX is based on the Impreza, which offers a CVT as the automatic transmission.

The news comes as part of a leaked dealer document showing ordering information for both the WRX and its big brother, the STI.
The more powerful WRX STI however will only be available with a manual transmission, sticking true to the STI’s heritage as a high-performance sports car. Check back next week when the 2015 Subaru WRX makes its official debut at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show
