Infiniti Q50 Recalled for Steer-by-Wire Issue

Infiniti has issued a recall on its Q50 sedan for an issue with the industry’s first steer-by-wire system.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there’s a particular version of the steering software that can cause the steer-by-wire system to disable in freezing temperatures. The issue can also cause a delay in the engagement of the backup mechanical steering system, meaning the driver could be left without steering for a temporary time.

Only 23 Q50 sedans are affected by the recall and owners are being notified so that dealerships can update the software.
