The top three finalists for both the 2014 North American Car and Utility Vehicle of the Year have been released, with the winner set to be announced at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.
Two vehicles from GM, the Cadillac CTS and Chevy Corvette Stingray made the top three in the car category, and will compete against the new compact Mazda3 for top honors.
In the utility vehicle category the Chevy Silverado, Acura MDX and Jeep Cherokee are set to do battle.
For a vehicle to be considered for the awards, it must be “substantially changed from the previous model and must go on sale shortly after the announcement of the award.” Choosing the winner is a panel made up of 48 automotive journalists from across North America.
