BMW Not Interested in Entry-Level Sedan Market: Exec
BMW isn’t interested in competing in the entry-level luxury sedan market, said one of its executives.
According to BMW board member Herbert Diess, the German automaker believes an entry in the small-sedan segment has a “high risk of substitution” and could cannibalize sales from BMW’s larger cars.

BMW’s smallest entrant in the U.S. market will be the 2 Series coupe, though the Active Tourer 2 Series would fill the void of having a competitor to the successful Mercedes CLA on the marketplace, that is if it comes to the U.S. But currently, BMW doesn’t see the need to have a sedan below the 3 Series and believes customers looking for four doors can consider the X1 crossover.
