BMW M2 Coupe Likely Coming by 2016
A true successor to the BMW 1 Series M Coupe is rumored to be on sale by 2016, heavily influenced by technology found in the new M3 and M4 models.
The M2 will likely use a modified variant of the M235i’s 3.0-liter six-cylinder powerplant with maximum power reaching around 360 to 380 hp – just enough performance to separate it from the M235i’s 320 hp, but not enough to creep up on the new M3 and M4 vehicles.

Expect the M2 to borrow plenty of technology from its bigger brothers including chassis enhancements and the Active M Differential. In order to keep the M2 cost friendly, it may not come standard with Adaptive M Suspension but expect a wide variety of settings to alter the handling of the car.
