Hyundai Bringing New Electric Vehicle to US by 2017
Hyundai will be bringing an all-new electric vehicle to the U.S. market within three years.
According to Hyundai America’s vice president of corporate and product planning, Michael O’Brien, it will be a compact-class EV that’s an entirely new product. There isn’t a firm production date, but we can expect to see it “within three years,” said O’Brien.

Based on demand, the new electric vehicle could be sold in more markets than the Tucson Hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle that the Korean automaker is touting as the “next-generation EV.” Though the company remains more confident that hydrogen is the more preferable zero-emission solution, it’s well aware that the infrastructure isn’t as well established as electric vehicles.
