BMW 2 Series Earns IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus
The BMW 2 Series is the first BMW model to achieve a “good” rating in the IIHS small overlap front crash test.
The new midsize luxury car has earned a Top Safety Pick Plus rating from the IIHS, though the award only applies to 2 Series vehicles built after June 2014. The 2 Series earned a good rating in the small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests.

According to the IIHS, in the small overlap test the driver’s space was maintained reasonably well. Injury measures recorded on the driver dummy indicated a low risk of any significant injuries in a real-world crash of this severity.
Optional on the BMW 2 Series is the City Braking system, which is a forward collision warning and braking system that helps earn the 2 Series an advanced rating for front crash prevention.
