2015 Chevrolet SS Gains Manual Transmission, Magnetic Ride Control

Rumored since the Chevrolet SS debuted, two much needed features will be heading to the sports sedan’s equipment list for 2015.

The 2015 Chevrolet SS will be gaining a manual transmission and the automaker’s Magnetic Ride Control, both of which have been much requested since the vehicle debuted this year. According to GM’s online order guide, the 2015 SS will have a six-speed manual available as an option in the form of a Tremec TR6060 transmission. The transmission will come with a new 3.70 rear axle while the Magnetic Ride Control suspension will be standard.

Magnetic Ride Control will assist the SS by reading the road multiple times per second and adapts the suspension best to the road surface. The system is found on various Cadillac models along with GM’s full-size SUVs and the Corvette Stingray. Under the hood, the SS will keep its 6.2-liter V8 with 415 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. The current six-speed automatic transmission will carry over to the 2015 model year.

Other small changes include the addition of paint colors such as Regal Peacock Green and Alchemy Purple.
