Formula 1 Returns to Mexico Next Year

After 23 years, Formula 1 will be returning to Mexico in 2015.

The event, which will take place at the 2.747-mile Mexico City Circuit, was originally on this year’s provisional calendar but failed to secure a slot this season. Speaking at a press conference in Mexico, Bernie Ecclestone said: “I feel it is the right time for F1 and Mexico and I’m sure it will be to the benefit of both for many years.”

The final track layout has not been decided, but organizers noted that the pit, paddock and spectator areas will be revamped prior to the event next year. The country last hosted the race in 1992 and the event will likely be a back-to-back with Austin.
