Scion Mulling Compact Crossover for Lineup
Toyota is planning to rejuvenate its Scion brand with a revamped lineup that could include a crossover.
According to a recent report, Scion’s overhaul will see the iQ model getting the axe later this year, with no replacement model planned. Rumor has it that the xB will be replaced by a rebadged Auris model, a four-door hatchback that is sold in Europe and shares its platform with the Corolla. Expect Scion’s version of the Auris to arrive next spring with a brand-specific front end, spiced up interior and a new nameplate.

As we reported earlier, the next-generation Scion xD will actually be based on the 2016 Mazda2 sedan and will be built in Mexico alongside the Mazda2 and next-generation Yaris. The bigger news is that executives at the Japanese automaker mulling over adding a compact crossover to Scion’s lineup that would be smaller than the RAV4 with more aggressive styling to target a younger audience.
The two sporty coupes in Scion’s lineup, the FR-S and tC, will remain mostly unchanged until 2016. A new model of the tC will arrive that year while the next-generation FR-S will come in 2017 at the earliest.
