1
A safety investigation looking into the 2013 Ford Explorer built for police departments has been opened.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is conducting a preliminary safety investigation into about 20,000 of these police vehicles because of failing brake hoses. A report from a metropolitan police force says that they experienced 13 brake hose failures in 11 different vehicles out of a total of 46 Explorers.
If the hoses fails, the vehicles will experience decreased braking power. The problems for this police force, which was not named, were all experience between December and July.
Ford is cooperating with the investigation.
