Rolls-Royce Waterspeed Collection Seeks to Whet Luxury Appetites
Rolls-Royce had a presence on the concept lawn at Pebble Beach this year with its new Waterspeed Collection Phantom Drophead Coupe.
The specialized British luxury car is being offered by the brand to commemorate water speed records set by Malcolm Campbell in the iconic Bluebird K3 and K4 when he hit 126.33 mph in 1939. Rolls-Royce first officially debuted the car last May during an event in London, but is showcasing it at Pebble Beach as well.
The car is finished in nine layers of blue paint that, for the first time in company history, is being matched in the engine bay and wheels. Like the exterior, the cabin also uses a blue color scheme and is upholstered in grey leather. Some of the more notable details include engraved arm rests on the doors that the company says take eight hours each to complete.
