Ferrari 458 Speciale Spider Leaked Ahead of Paris Debut

Ferrari 458 Speciale Spider Leaked Ahead of Paris Debut

The images shown here were supposedly captured from an online car configurator that went live early, revealing Ferrari’s next convertible ahead of its official debut.

The coupe version of Ferrari’s more hardcore 458 debuted last year at this time during the Frankfurt Motor Show and a year later the Italian exotic brand is expected to reveal its open air variant. Like its closed-cockpit sibling, the Speciale Spider will shed weight and use the same advanced stability control system that Ferrari revealed last year. Side Slip angle Control, as it’s called, can instantly alter the amount of torque being distributed between the rear wheels for maximum performance through a new algorithm. Eventually, SCC will be included on all Ferrari models, but it broke cover with the Speciale.

Ferrari hasn’t confirmed details about the new  car yet, but you can almost definitely bet that it will come with the same 4.5-liter naturally aspirated V8 cranking out 605 hp at 9,000 RPM and 398 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 RPM. It should also be roughly 200 lbs lighter than the normal 458 Spider.

The car will officially be revealed next week in Paris where more detailed and official information will be announced.
