LA Dealer Asks Six Figures for Camaro Z/28
One dealer in Los Angeles thinks the manufacturer suggested retail price of the most expensive Camaro ever is still too low.
Felix Chevrolet has a black-on-black Z/28 for sale, but the store is asking $106,165 for the car, which is more than $31,000 above Chevrolet’s MSRP. The same dealer also has a white-on-black model that it is advertising for $76,150.
The car was first reported on by Jalopnik affiliate site Car Buying, which also reports that another black-on-black model is being offered by a dealership nearby for $76,645. Chevrolet’s fastest-yet Camaro is designed with road course use as a primary focus although it is street legal. The monstrous muscle car uses the same 7.0-liter LS7 V8 as the C6 generation Z06 Corvette and boasts the widest front tires of any production vehicle.
Earlier this year, Chevrolet said it would not limit production of the Z/28, but that it planned to produce 2,500 copies for the 2015 model year. If demand exceeds that supply, the company will build accordingly. Perhaps more importantly, the next generation Camaro is expected to arrive for the 2016 model year on the Alpha platform with an optional turbocharged four-cylinder engine that will allow it to compete more directly with the upcoming sixth-generation Mustang from Ford.
